Trails Inspire is working with the Town of Tusayan – gateway community to the Grand Canyon and the Arizona Trail – to develop a trails Master Plan. Preliminary interviews with area trail enthusiasts and stakeholders took place in June and a public input questionnaire and comment period was open for two weeks from July 17th – August 1st.
A stakeholders meeting was held on August 1st and a public meeting on August 3rd. There was a presentation on the project goals, scoping process and survey results that can be found here: http://bit.ly/2vMh6tA.
Grand Canyon News did a story on the public meeting, read about it here.
Trails Inspire will be working with Mark Flint from Southwest Trail Solutions on trail design and layout. Recommendations will be included in the Master Plan for signage, trailheads and location of the Grand Canyon History Trail, an interpretive trail telling the story of human history in the Grand Canyon and Tusayan area.
