The Arizona National Scenic Trail – otherwise known as the “AZT” – stretches 800 miles, from Mexico to Utah. It traverses “sky island” mountain ranges, the Sonoran Desert, the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest, the Grand Canyon, and 9,000-foot peaks.
Of the 11 National Scenic Trails in America, only three have been completely constructed from end to end: the Pacific Crest Trail, the Appalachian Trail and the Arizona Trail. Of the three, the Arizona Trail is the newest, having been envisioned in the 1980s and completed in 2011.
Join Trails Inspire founder Sirena Rana Dufault, a two-time Arizona Trail veteran, as she shares personal experiences, planning tips, and insight about tackling the trail in sections or in one continuous thru-hike. Her presentation is laced with history, humor and insider tricks.

Sirena Rana Dufault has logged thousands of miles hiking, backpacking, rafting and canyoneering in the Southwest. She is an expert on the Arizona National Scenic Trail and has been involved with the building, promotion and maintenance of the trail for over a decade. Trails Inspire, her consulting company, promotes the outdoors via photography, freelance writing, public speaking, and trail design. Her upcoming book, “Day Hikes on the Arizona National Scenic Trail” will be released in Spring 2020 by Wilderness Press. Sirena is based in Tucson, Arizona but considers the Grand Canyon her second home.
